West Michigan Christian Schools Wrap Another Year

Boldly Seasoning Every Part of Our Lives with the Joy and Love of The Gospel

In early June, something extraordinary happened at the Division 4 state track meet that is worth sharing. It wasn’t an athletic accomplishment, it just happened to take place at an athletic event.

The last event of the day was the girls 4×400 relay.   As is the WMC teams’ custom, they gathered for prayer before the event.  Except for this time, they asked another team to join them, and another, and another.  Eventually, our high school girls, representing our five-school WMCS system and our Lord, led the entire heat – 32 runners – in prayer before the event.  We did not win the heat and nor did we place in the event but I couldn’t be more proud of our team.

This is what we are working for in our schools.  We want our children to season every part of their lives – their work, their play – with the joy and love of The Gospel; and we want them to do this with boldness.

Another year has gone by and we are continuing to seek ways to carry out our mission even more effectively among all five schools.  This past year we added Fremont Christian into our WMCS association.  Our teachers have increased their level of collaboration in the development of their craft and the curriculum as led by our WMCS Director of Instruction & Curriculum.  Our Principals meet regularly to share ideas and responsibilities – and to commiserate from time to time.  Our special needs students are benefitting from the growing effectiveness of our ESS program.  And as our enrollment grows we are reaching an even larger portion of our community and having a greater influence for Christ in our communities.

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of the work that is taking place in our schools in Fremont, New Era, Muskegon, Norton Shores and Grand Haven.  Please keep us in your prayers and we do our part to raise up a generation of young people striving to do the Lord’s work in all areas of life.

A special congratulations to all the WMCS grads! Enjoy your summer adventures and see you next fall!

Dan DeKam
